Vintage bus and train rides and the State’s only operational heritage electric tram are just some of the many attractions to keep visitors young and old entertained at Whiteman Park.
Entry to this unique conservation and recreation reserve on the doorstep of the Swan Valley is free.
The park encompasses a massive 3,700 hectares of natural bushland within which lie vast picnic grounds, playgrounds, bushwalk trails, a craft village and two dog parks (one each for small and big dogs).
The park is also home to not one but three fantastic State transport museums – a motor museum, a tractor museum and Western Australia’s only land transport heritage museum.
Nature lovers will enjoy discovering the Woodlands Reserve, a predator-proof 200-hectare rehabilitated woodland, while children can learn about the importance and beauty of Western Australia’s native bushland in the Community Forest.

Sandalford Wines is one of Western Australia’s oldest, largest and most distinguished producers of premium wine, with a history in the Swan Valley linked to the time of European settlement.
In one of the most sustainable wineries in the country, the winemaking team creates a wide range of wines under a variety of labels, and many of these are available for tasting at the cellar door.
The Sandalford Bar and Restaurant celebrates a marriage of modern Australian and contemporary Italian cuisine, with a seasonal menu featuring hand-rolled pasta, wood-fired pizza and other artisanal delights.
The bustling open kitchen creates dishes to delight the most discerning diner, while the restaurant’s tranquil, leafy ambience invites you to relax and indulge all the senses. Expansive glass doors lead to the relaxed al fresco dining situated under 125 year old vines and offering views of vineyards and the surrounding countryside.
There’s also a shop offering a curated collection of wine-related items, including glassware, bottle openers and gift ideas.
Groups are welcome for wine tastings and winery tours, both of which operate from the cellar door.

Someone claims to have visited this iconic chocolate factory without eating any chocolate but frankly, we don’t believe them.
An additional outlet to the one in Margaret River and so much closer to Perth, the Swan Valley chocolate factory is the largest in Western Australia and features free entry and chocolate tastings (subject to change due to health measures in place), along with viewing windows to watch the products being made.
Choose from the full range of the company’s chocolate products including handmade truffles, novelty chocolates, chocolate sauces and a variety of chocolate gift ideas.
The cafe offers a wide range of light breakfasts and lunches, desserts, chocolate fondues, coffee, decadent cakes and other chocolate-inspired fare.
Friendly staff, fantastic products, plenty of parking and a fun-filled, fully-airconditioned environment make this an attraction for all the family. The cafe balcony overlooks a large grassed area, allowing children to work off their inevitable sugar high in a safe, fenced environment.
